About Zhouwen Tang

Dr. Zhouwen "David" Tang was born in China and grew up in the Memorial area of Houston. After graduating from Memorial High School, he received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He returned to Houston to complete his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Following the completion of his gastroenterolgy fellowship, Dr. Tang returned to UT Southwestern to complete additional training in advanced endoscopic procedures. Board certified in gastroenterology, Dr. Tang treats patients ages 18 and up. He is skilled at advanced endoscopic therapies, including retrograde cholangiopancreatography, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), ablation of premalignant lesions and other advanced multimodal endoscopic procedures. WHile advanced endoscopic procedures focus on disorders of the pancreas, bile duct, and gastrointestinal cancers, Dr. Tang also provides a medical home for  patients with chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and other digestive disorders. In addition, he offers colon cancer screenings. Dr. Tang has contributed to clinical research to advance the art and practice of gastroenterology. He also maintains a special interest in implementation of high-value and cost-effective care and has published on the subject in leading medical journals. In addition, Dr. Tang remains an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). When not caring for patients, Dr. Tang can be found enjoying his hobbies and learning new ones, including computer programming, aviation, photography, and motorsports.
